Professional Engineers in Education (PEE)

The mission of PEE is to advance the public welfare and safety through service to faculty, students, and practicing professionals. This is accomplished by promoting the teaching of engineering principles, knowledge, and skills pertinent to engineering practice. PEE promotes the highest quality of practice and ethical standards, professional licensing, and the professional, social, and economic interests of students, faculty, and the NSPE membership.

PEE promotes engineers doing the following:

  • Encouraging faculty licensing.
  • Identifying and promoting employment conditions that enhance the appeal of faculty careers.
  • Encouraging students in grades K-12 to excel in math and sciences and to choose engineering as a career.
  • Encouraging students to take the FE exam and pursue registration as professional engineers.
  • Supporting the ABET criteria as the minimum acceptable curriculum for licenser.
  • Promoting a quality engineering program of analytical skills and design practice and quality instruction.
  • Advocating funding for engineering laboratory equipment and providing information on laboratory needs.
  • Encouraging continuing professional development.
